Delores Spooner, 97, of North Scranton, passed away Monday at the Hospice of the Sacred Heart Inpatient Unit, Dunmore, surrounded by her loving family. She was the widow of Stanley Spooner.
Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late John and Marion Smith Howey. Before her retirement, she was employed as a licensed practical nurse at the former Ellen Memorial Health Care Center.
She was a loving mother and grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her family and also playing bingo.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to her caregiver, Lisa White and all the nurses and staff of the Hospice of the Sacred Heart for the wonderful care.
Surviving are her daughters, Judy McClemens and husband, Harold; Janice Coleman and husband, Tom; Arlene Burns and husband, Bill; and Dee Crea, all of Scranton; Lois Zelazny and husband, Tony, Throop; seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Edward McClemens; a son in-law, Michael Crea; five brothers and four sisters.
Private funeral services were conducted from the Solfanelli-Fiorillo Funeral Home Inc., 1030 N. Main Ave., with the Rev. Ginger Daubenhauser as officiating clergy. Interment and committal services held at St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Moscow.
