Rocky Bernardi, 79, of Scranton, died Saturday at home after an illness. His wife, Faye Bevilacqua Bernardi, preceded him in death on Nov. 3, 1996. At the time of her passing, the couple was married for over 39 years.
Born in Scranton, son of the late Paul and Mary Grippo Bernardi, he attended St. Frances Cabrini School and was a West Scranton High School graduate. He proudly served in the United States Army 109th Infantry Regiment.
Rocky was a member of the Sheetmetal Workers Union Local 44, a former superintendent with the city of Scranton Department of Public Works and a van driver for Northeastern Transit.
He was a loving and caring father and grandfather who enjoyed going to Friday night high school football games, fishing and spending time with his sons and grandchildren.
He also enjoyed spending time with his buddy, Mike and friend, Mary Ann.
Surviving are two sons, Paul Bernardi and wife, Maureen, South Abington Twp.; and Mark Bernardi and fiancée, Ginny Dubas, Lake Ariel; grandchildren, Paul, Marissa and Ashley; and great-grandchildren, Xavion and Audriana.
Private funeral services will he Tuesday from the Guido-Fiorillo Funeral Home, 120 S. Main Ave. Interment will follow at Cathedral Cemetery.
