Obituary for Helene L. Fish

Helene L.  Fish
Helene L. Fish of Scranton left to go be with God on August, 22, 2018, she was 100 years young. She was the widow of Gus Fish, who died March 6, 1977. They were married for 19 years. Born February 9, 1918 to Lithuanian parents Helena Bennett Patelunas and Paul Patelunas, she was one of thirteen children. A graduate of St. Joseph’s Parochial Grade School, she then attended and graduated from Scranton Technical High School. She worked for Dr. Dickey as a Dental Assistant for 15 years and then the Shriner Corporation for over 8 years. She was the Secretary for Cub Scout Pack 84 of the Immaculate Conception Church and was an active member of the Keystone Emergency Unit from 1979 until 1987. She was devoted to the Blessed Mother, and was strong in her catholic faith, a lover of all animals, and lived life to the fullest. The family would like to thank the Green Ridge Healthcare Center, Dr. Nicholas Dodge, Dr. Dominic Ruggiero, the Emergency Department Staff at both Geisinger CMC and Regional Hospital of Scranton, along with Erica Foy and Stacey Jones.
She is survived by a son Stephen and his fiancé Lindsay Lepre and her daughter Madysun, Scranton. A stepson Richard and his wife Sally, along with their children Gregory and Nicci of San Anselmo, California and Avery Hendrickson (Fish) of Portland, Oregon, along with several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by brothers Frank, George, Joseph, James, Paul, Martin, Anthony, William, and John along with sisters Catherine, Anna, and Agnes.
The funeral will be Monday from the Solfanelli-Fiorillo Funeral Home Inc., 1030 N. Main Ave. Scranton with Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am in Mary, Mother of God Parish at Holy Rosary Church, 316 William St. by her best friend and confidant Father John Victoria. Interment will follow in Cathedral Cemetery. Friends and family may pay their respects Monday morning from 9 – 10 am in the funeral home.
