Paul J. Yarros of Clifford Twp., formerly of Scranton died Saturday October 20, 2018 at the Forest City Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. His wife is the former Elaine Festa.
Born in Scranton he was the son of the late George and Mary Lavelle Yarros. A graduate of Scranton Technical High School, Class of 1953 where he played in the school band, he proudly served in the United States Army where he served overseas in Europe. Prior to retirement he was member of the Sheet Metal Workers Union #44 and worked for Cox and Scranton Sheet Metal.
Paul enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid hunter, he also loved to ski and was a founding member of the Scranton Ski Club. An accomplished craftsman, he was able to accomplish feats like build his own house, to make his own homemade maple syrup.
Also surviving brother Robert Yarros, Scranton; sisters Cathy Yarros, Scranton, and Ann Marie Brandt and husband Michael, Virginia; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brother James Yarros; sister-in-law Joan Yarros.
The funeral will be conducted on Thursday from the Solfanelli-Fiorillo Funeral Home Inc., 1030 N. Main Ave. with Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in St. Piux X Church, Route 106, Royal, PA. Interment will follow at Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Carbondale. Everyone attending the funeral is kindly asked to proceed directly to church. Family and friends may call Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to the American Diabetes Association, PO Box 15829, Arlington, VA 2215.
